Can't close Quick search panel with red/white x,

if the Edit grid is empty, only by disabling View - Quick search - Show.
By the way, why is the "View" menu item so wide ?

The search panel is part of the grid control and the control is disabled.
The menu item might appear wide because windows needs space for the check-box icon and to display the shortcut-key.

... and therefore this can not be changed ... understand. This and the Folder tree and the Edit panel (Template / Quick View) all have shortcut key. Because only the search panel has (a not always working) closing icon, maybe you could remove this icon. Ctrl-S, Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-W should be sufficient, I think, although I would like better if all three would have a closing icon, or rather on the menu bar would be three operating button (show/don't show), in this way both the mouse both the keyboard could be used.

Interesting, in 0.85 it's wide is normal, maybe the submenu sign (little right arrow) causes this - although in Firefox the Tools menu item's size normal too, although it contains icon, text and submenu (in Flashgot and DownloadHelper). Funny.
