Tags like ORIGINALYEAR are not being read. Mp3Tag, Picard, FB2K read them just fine.

I just loaded my entire collection, and ORIGINALYEAR is successfully read only on 381 of 27933 files with the ORIGINALYEAR tag. The few read by TGF are MP3s (and one single FLAC)

The file has ORIGINALYEAR as a tag name but TGF uses ORIGYEAR
You can go to File/Options/Edit/Field mapping and then add a mapping to read ORIGINALYEAR as ORIGYEAR for ape and vorbis tags

I'll have to check if it is more common these days, to use the first value and adjust the code accordingly

Doing that I get a "Grid index out of range." error, and no change in the reading of the tag.

Nevermind, did it one more time, and it seems to work.
