AllMusic & Ad Blocker

Post by jbscout »

Well this is annoying.

I am running Win10 and TGF 0.89b-Aug26

I go to AllMusic (Custom, #amg.so) and 2 unpleasant things happen.

1) An interstitial pops-up and informs me an Ad Blocker is detected and I need to disable it. I can't move on from there.

2) The scroll bars disappear in the viewing window. Which is annoying because I can only see 1/2 of the interstitial pop-up.

I am not sure how to fix this.

In Win <8, I was pretty sure TGF used an IE plugin/API to display the web content. Is TGF still using the IE plugin/API? IE is still lurking in Win10, but Edge has taken over.

Also, in neither IE nor Edge am I using an Ad Blocker.

What settings do I need to change?

How do I get past this (without a AllMusic subscription)?

Thanks

I don't use TGF to access AllMusic, I use TGF only locally.

In Firefox using Adblock Plus I had the same problem, so I disabled it on AllMusic.

IE11 is still a part of the Win10 OS nothing has changed at all, edge is just forced on new users as the default browser.
I just tried AMG on a Win10 machine and no pop up appears, it is a clean install so no 3rd party plugins or other software are installed. Can you double check that you actually are running a plugin free IE also run IE standalone and try to access allmusic and see what happens.

It may be my .hosts file that is blocking something.

AMG Script: Website blocked

Post by Wurlitzer »

When using AMG script there is a popup with following message: It appears that something in this browser is blocking advertisements from being displayed properly on our site.
How can I bypass this message?

Are you also using a server OS? TGF just uses your IE install to display web pages any site should display the exact same behavior in standalone IE or the program.
If something ( hosts file, security mode, add-on,router, firewall,and so on ) is blocking a URL that is considered an add source then you will get this message

@jtclipper

I'm using Windows 10 Pro. As far as IE is concerned I never modified anything as I use Firefox as my default browser.

@jtclipper

It seems that today it is working again. Maybe Allmusic has some trouble concerning their website at the moment.

I am using addon for ads blocker but not any file music or video files even not their properties. If you have some ideas then let me know so that I can make a try.
