Organize library using Genre script

Post by mattyj »

Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me why when I organize my library using the standard Genre script it creates folders for genres not tagged to the mp3's in iTunes?
It appears that the script uses the original genre not the current tag?

Apologies if this issue has already been covered in the forum, I was unable to find any reference?

Are you using the Organize/restructure feature or the library?

Also please check a file for differences between the ID3v1 & ID3v2 tags maybe that is the issue

Ok thanks

Have checked the version of the tag (in Mp3tag) and the tracks with conflicting genres are shown as ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3)?

What values do you see in the genre field?
If you see UNK_GENRE then it is filled by the script for missing genres.

In any other case, if your files have differences between the 2 versions of ID3 tags then you can decide which one you would like to use and use tools/sync, I suggest you choose auto sync then the missing values will be filled for you.

All sorted thank you.

Removing the original tag data enabled the organize script to accurately reflect the current genres.
