What's the reason for this ? What is the advantage?
I think it's the best time to define the sort order by columns, to define what columns in which order will be displayed. There is one exception, the displayed columns can be changed with the help of the "Columns" menu.
(And for the sort at least to rows are necessary in the grid !).

The grid component will behave badly with no columns.
In order to create your presets scan a few files (at least 2 ) then do all the processing of the different views you want.

I do this already in a temp folder, when the target folder contains too many files and I have to change something.
