Copy tags between file types

Post by jbscout »

I want to copy tags from an AAC (*.m4a) file to a MP3 file.
Of course, I could do it manually via a series of cut-&-pastes, but ...

1) Is this possible to do this automatically with The Godfather?
If not, thoughts on it as a feature?
I know it has no good UI to glom on to.

2) I also thought about a 1st script that exported the tag values from the AAC to a text file, and then a 2nd script that imported them from the text file to the MP3.  But, I don't know of script subroutines to read/write text files.

Thoughts?

And, thanks
.
.
P.S.: Obviously only tag fields (e.g., Artist, Title,. etc.) that the 2 filetypes have in common would be supported.

You can use the Copy/Paste tags feature in the tag panel fir this.
By selecting row mode for the grid you can paste common values from one file to multiple ones.
There are many options as what to paste over to the new files also.

Thanks!
Worked well in 0.80.
Also figured out how to make it work in 0.79
